The Traveling Chef.

If you're into rude service and so-so food then give it a try. I would say overall, keep driving past this establishment your life will be richer without it.

Great food & excellent service

I had high hopes walking into this cafe. It seemed to have a nice mom and pop country style dining feel to it. Nice homey decor, not so good food or service. The waiter gave me the generic "everything is good here" response when asked what's good and reacted with surprise when asked to be seated to dine in. (the place was empty) Once seated, the waitress took my order than proceeded to sit in the table across from me and eat her lunch. I ordered the shrimp basket. You could tell they fried the fries in the same basket as the store bought frozen shrimp. It was undercooked, and all they did was fry it and toss it on a plate and throw a piece of store bought bread on it. The coleslaw was soggy and tasteless. There is nothing special they did with the food. They just heated it up. When I went to pay, they made me go to the gas station across the street to take out cash. The atm charged me an additional $2.50. Waitress didn't asked me how the meal was. She was more concerned with getting paid and getting me out of there. I felt rushed.

Since I like traveling around trying little small diners and having fun, I thought this might be an interesting place to try after i heard a few rumors about the good food. The diner does a give you the little hometown look and feel, this is where it all stops after the waitress and the food arrive. The waitress was a little rude, almost bothered we were there, the food was nothing to write home about. I ordered the Haystack meal, and my wife ordered the french toast. The meal was satisfactory and that was about it, and it was correct. The service was horrible, I actually heard the waitress say "I can't wait to go home" I felt like saying quit your job and you can go home then! When I asked for more sugar packets, the waitress snapped up the tray, the sugar packets were stuffed in and dropped it on the table, showing her distaste for our request with pursed lips.

This Café Food will knock your socks off and the Service was Perfectly Wonderful!!! A must go to for your next drive thru of rural Henry County...

Hometown eatery front without the hometown customer service or food.
